I remember a funny story on the film of this video. The director or the costume designer, one of the two, had this ratty old hat for Ronnie Dunn to wear, but if you watch the video, you never see Ronnie wearing it because he hated the hat.

The title reminds me of the famous quote by a former New Mexico governor: "Poor New Mexico; so far from heaven, so close to TX". NM, the state where they once hung a man for being "a general nuisance". Yea, song has little to do with Santa Fe (where's the turquoise?) but it is well done anyways. These days you're far more likely to die in a car wreck on Cerrillos than in a gun battle south of Santa Fe (Rio Rancho, perhaps?). Thanks for posting.

Santa Fe is the capital of New Mexico and IMO the most beautiful capital city we have in the US. At an elevation of a bit of 7,000 feet it is also the highest in altitude. Sunsets there are the most magnificent I have ever personally seen. Hang on - I’m getting to the point – this song, South of Santa Fe really has little to do with Santa Fe except for the title.
