Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods...now that's a blast from the past. Liked this song more so than Billy Don't Be a Hero. I also like the song Who Do You Think You are?

It's Bo's band, but it's not BO on lead vocals. The lead vocal is Mike Gibbons who was only SEVENTEEN when they recorded this! They were all quite young, just barely into adulthood when this record was made.

This song should've been the follow up to Billy, Don't Be a Hero. The the B Side of the 45.

Much better than "Billy, Don't Be a Hero" in my opinion. "Billy" was sappy and overplayed. The girls loved it, and played it over and over. I played THIS ONE over and over. Glad I found it here; I hadn't heard it since, like, 1975.

While I still love "Billy, Don't Be A Hero", I love this song more. After all these years, it still sounds wonderful. I actually got Bo Donaldson's autograph when I went to see The Osmonds in 1972 - he was very nice and had a pretty smile. Meeting him and seeing the Osmonds was such a treat for a 9 year old back then :-)

This was the flip of "Billy Don't Be A Hero", and whenever I see that original 45, I tend to prefer this side more.

@4evereden61 Thanks for the reply. Say, as you may know "Billy.. " was first recorded by Paper Lace, and "Who Do..." had already been recorded twice, first by Jigsaw, then an almost identical cover by Candlewick Green came(shortly) after. So was "Don't Ever Look Back" also a cover, or was it original?

@cmulwee001 Hi, The tracks in order for this album are: Side 1: Girl Don't Make Me Wait, Who Do You Think You Are, Fool's Way of Lovin', Hang Your Lamp In The Window, Deeper and Deeper, Goodnight and Good Morning. Side 2: Billy Don't Be A Hero, Goodbye Holly, Goodbye, Keep on Believin' Love, Don't Ever Look Back, The Last Blues Song. I hope that helps! I also have the "Special Someone" album and the 45 of Billy Don't Be a Hero, yes Don't Ever Look Back is the flip side of that.

@4evereden61 Could you list the tracks of this album in order? I guess "Billy.." was probably the opener.

I thought I heard that this was released as the flip side to Billy, Don't Be A Hero. Is that correct?

I have this album. I used to go see them at Knott's Berry Farm and Anaheim Stadium when I was a teeny bopper! I also went to Catalina Island a couple of times while they entertained on the ship ride over. What memories! Thanks for posting this.

This sounds a LOT like The Partridge Family, to me anyhow. This is REAL music, real instruments, real voices, unlike so much of today's manufactured singers like Hannah Montana, Hilary Duff, The Jo-Bros. and others, who can NOT sing and need their voices digitally enhanced, and are backed by some techno-synth track. Classic stuff
