These guys were the godfathers of metal. There'd be no Sabbath without Blue Cheer

I saw these guys at the Cow Palace in '68 with Canned Heat, Credence Clearwater and a Haigh-Ashbury band called the Wedge. The ticket was a buck and a half. Summertime blues was getting played on Top 40 AM radio and the brand new underground FM format on KMPX played whole album sides. These guys were loud! Hendrix loud, Who loud... with virtually no PA... just a monster stack of amps on stage.

Another 45 i got from friends in the US in exchange for UK singles,. helped me build a collection most of which no one had ever heard of, Blues Magoos, Electric Prunes, Strawberry Alarmclock, Grateful Dead and my hero Captain Beefheart etc. Yellow Brick Road was a revelation ...then he really got down to it .. Clandeboye Forest nr. Newtownards in N.Ireland used to rock with a whole new set of sounds back in the late 60s and early 70s all played on a battery powered record player ,... MAD

hmm, love BC's studio version of this tune, but live this song just underwhelms. weak crowd reaction. Not the best song off that album to choose. almost any other song off O.I. would have went over much better.

This must have been one of the last performances with Stephens on lead guitar. He left pretty shortly after the second LP, and Randy Holden joined and stayed with the group from Mid-1968 through Early-1969. The song always made me think of a haunted house
