This is from Blue Cheer's 5th album, The Original Human Being (BC5). This is very interesting song, and personally one of my favorite instrumentals. It features extensive use of Sitar and Synthesizer, its just an amazing song!

That's not a synth, it's an organ. Doesn't matter, just sayin'. Vincebus Eruptum was one of the first albums I bought with my own money, and I bought everything they did right up through this one. I do so love this band. Nobody was like these guys. Hell, they weren't even like themselves! Sweet song and thanks for the upload.

this is one of my favorite Indian flavored Instrumental songs by the legendary US psychedelic rock group Blue Cheer. The video seems to go perfectly with it too. I think you will agree it is a very positive kind of tune.

I will elaborate some more about the 60's LSD drug culture. Timothy Leary was a psychiatrist by trade and he had experimented with LSD on live subjects in the 50's and early 60's when LSD was still legal. Leary firmly believed in therapeutic benefits from LSD even claiming LSD as a cure for criminal recidivism and homosexuality. After LSD was made illegal he became a champion or guru for the drug for everything from enhancing sex to broadening & enlightening one's mental outlook. He claimed very limited ill effects. Leary started to make national news as such in 1966. All the hippies and musicians of the day took due notice. I guess they especially had no problem with the sexual aspects of the drug. Leary drew 30,000 hippie crowds to his public LSD talks out in California. By the late 60's Richard Nixon was calling Leary the most dangerous man in America. Leary began to have legal problems for marijuana possession arrests which carried pretty stiff prison sentences back then. Leary claimed some of the arrests were police plants. Leary fled the US to Europe in 1971 and while there made an LP with the German band Ash Ra Tempel to go along with the several LP's he had made himself. Leary was tracked down and arrested by US agents in Europe in 1972. He was brought back to the US and imprisoned for about 5 years. His prominence as the LSD Preacher in the 60's to his US departure in 1971 do not just match the psychedelic music era by coincidence.

Some lame brains appear unaware of the drug culture that surrounded the California music scene of the late 60's. Drug use was rampant at all levels including the musicians themselves and the hippies that attended the concerts. LSD being the hallucinate drug of choice at that time. LSD was not required to play a sitar but it was present more than it was not. This psychedelic era of music died in direct accordance to the passing of the drugs of choice. That being the decline in popularity of LSD going into the 70's.

There seems to be many twits out there who think that any song that features a sitar automatically implies the musicians must have been high on LSD. Give me a break.

A true masterpiece of music. I have every Blue Cheer album every released and enjoyed watching them evolve. The godfathers of metal and hard rock will always live on . Get more people to hear this and other masterpieces of real music. I cant believe that at the music awards they dont even give Dickie Peterson a mention when they give the death toll.
