YES JAPAN HAS GOTH, dummy! Check out Automod (Deathrock from 80's) Fiction (Goth from 80's) and even Buck+Tick, the equivalent to Japan's The Cure). Yes this is visual kei, dark metal not GOTH but don't say Japan doesn't have goth until you get your ass over there and verify it in person. They even have Darkwave and many great industrial bands. You just don't know where to look.
