Laura Nyro was actually offered the gig for Lead vocals before David Clayton Thomas. She turned it down. Career mistake? I guess she did OK on her own. Can't help wondering what would have happened if she had taken the gig.

I remember going to a Glenn Miller Orchestra concert featuring Paula Kelly & The Modernaires in 1972.  During their break Paula mentioned that BS&T was one of her favorite bands at the time.  She especially liked the brass section, had much of that 1940's brass sound.
