I imagine the narrator is great cosmic hero who closed the void that was eating through reality, but fascistic governments still wanted him imprisoned for the knowledge he used to do it, and use his petty crimes as an excuse to have him arrested, but he steals a spaceship and runs off with the girl who kept him on the side of good, despite the temptation of a reptilian being who tried to convince him to use his power for evil. Then the lovers steal an immortality drug, and a thousand years later he writes her this song to ask her if she still loves him. I had a dream that this makes me think of once. I can't think why, though. There was this great hunter who had been imprisoned in a glass vat of some preservative liquid for the crime of poaching, and his mind was hooked into the city as the main computer, but a thousand years later (this is where I find the similarity, I think) the city is abandoned, and the tribes that pass through the ruins speak of the still-living hunter, who sees everything in the city, as a nature god. This actually took backseat in my dream to playing bass in this concert (I'm more of a lead guitar type in real life) and seeing my long lost friend A.C. again. This was all just going on in the background.
