Personally, I'd consider "Emo" a variant of "pop" punk rock that is melodic and has "emotional" lyrics. Blink 182 has all the "garage rock" components and it's easy to get into.One could even argue that most "alternative" and "indie" is essentially punk stylistically. I'll save that for another discussion...
