This is just a hunch, but I think magic exists in the human world because of Sunset's presence there since she doesn't have a human counterpart. Because of what happened at the Fall Formal, some of the magic from Twilight's crown got absorbed into herself, triggering some kind of magical anomaly that affects herself and the Rainbooms. In Friendship Games, this anomaly is now possibly affecting the CHS school grounds. causing dimensional rifts from Equestria to open. Despite these assumptions, I'll be really surprised if such things actually happen in the movie.

I like how this gives a good building up to what makes Sunset different that Twilight, Twi is all about the books and theory side of learning while Sunset is the hands on type that needs to actually try things out herself. Both of them are smart in different ways and it will be interesting to see how they learn from each other as time goes on.You know I have seen a number of times people wondering both in universe and in fandom how the magic is still there without Twilight, forgetting that Sunset is a natural born unicorn and talented enough to be the princess's pupil. It is good to see that they might actually be making use of that fact in the movie.
