Of all the goodbye songs i've heard, I think this one is the most powerful of them all. The writer was dying of cancer, and his words are ones of strength, not despair. My father survived cancer, but I think if he didn't survive it, I'd have no qualms about playing this song at his funeral. I'd also like to know how, or if, Dave and Henry held their composure while they were recording this song.

Lost my cuz on the 16th of oct. Airman first class, he was like a fatherish figure to me. He deserved a soldiers death, but no a guy he didn't even know put a 4-10 shell into the left side of his head. Didn't even make it a clean kill, 3 days in a coma he died...this was his funeral song

All you may not agree with every war America has, but I don't care... they were sent there, they served our country. And everyone in the armed forces THANK YOU, you may not like what you do but you do what you have to, to keep our entire world semi peaceful. Without rebellion and war their would be no reformat or equality in this world.... Thank you, sorry this comment may suck.

My grandpa died or cancer (it will be two years in July) and was in the Navy and loved to sail. We played this at his funeral. RIP Papa Dolly misses you.
