It's one of the best christian song ever written in my opinion. The man that wrote this had been a slave trader. He was so evil, even his own shipmates hated him. God got a hold of his heart and changed him completely. God is amazing. I used to listen to B.J. Thomas sing this back around 1979. I got saved in 1978 I have loved B.J. Thomas christian music ever sence then. God gave him a wonderful voice. He had been demon possesed before he got saved. He was evil too. Praise God.
