Charted at #5 on Billboard Hot 100 in December 1957. One of my favorite instrumentals from the '50's. The song had been a hit for Bing Crosby in 1937 (charting at #4). Original Billboard review: "A fine, clean arrangement on the great standard, featuring sharp harmony sax sound. Slow rock and roll rhythm makes it an instrumental cousin to the Pat Boone ballad hits. With the right jukebox and disk jockey teamwork, this could go." Billboard rating: 84 out of 100.

Written by Harry Tobias and Percy Wenrich.

B-side of "Raunchy" which charted at #10.

Lovely to hear Billy Vaughan and his orchestra playing this old song Sail along silvery moon. Takes me right back to the days of my youth. I'd forgotten that it was sung by Andy Williams too, Nice!

My mom and dad had a couple of his albums in the late 50s and early 60s. I wanted to play the saxophone because of this song. so in 4th grade there was a music meeting at my grade school about playing instruments. Mr Velligan was the music teacher. He said my teeth weren't right. So that was the end of that. What a moron.
