Taking the piss would mean someone has a sense of humor and enjoys self-deprecation. You keep pushing this politically fueled response when it is not even close to being a political question, and a question you have not answered, its a simple yes or no along with a small explanation, Yes: They were high on drugs No: They were being serious. Not the economic reasoning for their actions, its quiet obvious they did it for money that's the primary function of a band.
