Both versions are fantastic, but I have to say I like this version more. My dad is a Billy Idol fan, so I grew up listening to this version, it was my favorite song on Billy's 'Greatest Hits' album. So Billy's version will always be my favorite.

you are far wrong. have you not seen the movie the breakfast club? that is/was a ridiculously popular movie with this being the closing song. granted i liked pitch perfect with me being a choir kid all my life the breakfast club is better and ive known about this song since i first saw it when i was like 13. im 20 now.

In response to your assertion that this song is a trash cover song, I would have to disagree. The writer of this song actually intended for it to be performed by Billy Idol, and asked him first. So in a weird way, this is sort of the original. But he declined so it's all kind of a moot point.
