Davis claim he wrote it, BE claimed he wrote it, in an interview in 1978 Evans claimed he wrote it. From a listening point of view it could be both...who knows...who cares its magnificent ...both were Giants...

Bill Evans was really magic! Nowadays we don't see, unfortunately, musicians like him....

This (3) is the take that was first released, on the LP "Portrait In Jazz". Take 2 appeared later, along with 3, as a "bonus" track on the CD of the same title. 2 is a mono recording; apparently the stereo machine was not working during that take. I would be quite sure that this take (3) is the one that Bill wanted to be released. If the producer, Orrin Keepnews, had gone against Bill's wishes I doubt that Bill later would have named a tune "Re. Person I Knew", an anagram of Keepnews' name.

Because Take 1 and 2 were not perfect. And Mr Evans was clearly not having it.

3:00 - 3:25 Bill Evans' transition out of the double-time section back to the original slow feel is absolutely brilliant !!!

Record company executives decide which take to include on CD. Need I say more?
