Always loved this song. I wish Ume would release another Casablanca Records box set that would include all singles released on the label. The other one focused mainly on the disco stuff, which was terrific, but there were so many great singles, hits and misses, that need to be compiled in a CD collection. Bill Amesbury, Wildfire (Here Comes Summer), Fanny (Butter Boy) Hudson Brothers (So You Are A Star) as well as Larry Santos, Angel, Stallion. The list is much longer but u get the idea.10 years назад

In early 1974 I remember Jim Stafford put out a song called "My Girl Bill." Now Bill Amesbury is a girl, (now Barbra). How weird is that. Jim Staffords next single was "Wildwood Weed", a bigger hit in the Summer of '74.13 years назад

I remember hearing this on the radio in 1974 in the Wash., DC area. For years, I didn't know who was doing this song. There was another song I was also hearing around the same time called "Piano Man", also by a then-unknown artist, and I associated the 2 songs with each other. I did know the name of the guy doing that one. Neither was a big hit then. So, turned out both were named Bill/Billy, and both eventually had songs about gals named Virginia (Billy Joel's being "Only the Good Die Young").15 years назад
