kermit the frog actually came LONG before sesame street and the muppet show. he was created by jim henson for a show called sam and friends. i don't know why kermit, unlike other muppets, shows up in both muppets and sesame street venture. although sesame street, oscar and big bird, have done cameos in muppet movie and caper. and the whole cast, save elmo, who was not created, yet, was in the wedding scene for the muppets take manhattan. hope this helps. Interesting question. Kermit's always had a bit of a strange relationship with Sesame Street. If you notice, he typically does his own thing and doesn't "mix" with the other Sesame Street Muppets. As well, this is during the time that "The Muppet Show" was hugely popular, and Kermit was the star of that, so it may well be a way of cross-promoting the two, trying to drum up sales based on his name recognition. But I'm only guessing, and anyone who knows better is welcome to chime in.

So if Kermit's a guest star in this album, then how come he was a regular on the show, even at the time this album was made?
