Linda Ronstadt has put out a lot of exceptional songs throughout her career. However, this is not one of them. This song just doesn't become her. And I say this from the standpoint of a devoted fan of hers. It's just like Mick Jagger wouldn't sound good singing "Amazing Grace" or any country music song. The same principle applies here with Linda Ronstadt.

Pretty well sung but it's another version which avoids the sexiness of the lyrics during a time when it wasn't necessary, as it was when Ella Fitzgerald recorded the song in the '50s. Where is "Romance, finis! my chance, finis! the ants that invaded my pants, finis!"? The show, Pal Joey, is full of fun about sex so these sentimentaized, sanitized lyrics are pretty misleading and disappointing.

First time I ever heard this song was in the Movie "Pal Joey" Starring Rita Hayworth, Frank Sinatra, and Kim Novak. Frank did not take top billing. In his words why. Now that is a sandwich I would like to be between of. LOL got to love Frank. And in my opinion this is a female song, but Frank Sinatra does and excellent version of his own.

@Ricco99100 Your observation is very interesting. My comment would be that she was born to sing this music but never had the right opportunity until she met Nelson Riddle. I believe i am correct in saying that she herself has suggested this in her own comments.
