Ben Selvin's Knickerbockers Ruth Etting - You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me. Ruth Etting (November 23, 1897 — September 24, 1978) was an American singing star and actress of the 1920s and 1930s, who had over 60 hit recordings and worked in stage, radio, and film.

The music was written by Harry Warren, the lyrics by Al Dubin. The song was published in 1932. It appears in the backstager Warner Brothers musical film 42nd Street. The song was inspired by one of the women working at the Warner Brothers studio, who when asked why she was still dating a certain man, said that he was getting to be a habit with her. In the movie, it is sung by the leading lady Dorothy Brock, played by Bebe Daniels.

Like most of Selvin's 1932-33 recordings, this is a near hopeless rarity. This may be a tape dub, by the sound of it - the original 78 just doesn't turn up! (BTW, I can positively ID Elmer Feldkamp's singing. I don't know Muriel Sherman, who is known, if at all, for her work with Larry Funk's Band of 1000 Melodies.)13 years назад
