I'm sorry. I'm too much of a fan of the movie to think for a second these pasty celebs, could even for a second match the ferocity, energy and rawness the original cast had. To my knowledge they were all trained, gospel reared, genuine articles, whereas asking these contemporary (good in there own fields) characters is like asking a toddler to pass itself off as a convincing seasoned opera singer. No desire to be uncouth but it was shit, and rather embarrassing to watch.

I liked this. But Murray Head will always be my favourite Judas, and Ian Gillan my favourite Jesus. Sporty Spice as Mary, sublime! I thought this performance pretty good from all three.

People hating on Tim Minchin need to back off, listen to his other songs he is amazing. Just because his voice sounds nasal in one song doesn't mean his voice is like that all the time! The nasal sound could also be the mic, different mics sound different on different people. He may also have a cold and can't help the nasal sound, you don't know the reasons for the nasal sound. Also an atheist is perfect for the role of Judas. I love Tim Minchin his work is amazing I especially loved him in this musical! Rant over guys

people are having trouble liking this performance because they aren't your typical musical vocalists, its different, not bad, different, and it will always come down to who you are, i will agree Tim and Melanie's voices are quite weak (particularly Melanie's) compared to Bens, but even Ben's voice is different, i personally think its beautiful.
