This was REAL WORK, NOT COMPUTER, THOUSANDS OF "REAL" DRAWINGS ,you little monkeys. hard work, true spirit and belief in the artist by folks in the record industry, not the less than half ass, selfish CRAP today.

These days, you could just take the frames of the lead singer and import them into Paint.net and convert the lead singer into a pencil drawing. then layer those gifs onto the singer in a video editor.

I agree that this song is great in both radio and video format, but I prefer watching the music video.

Don't see a reply function for Steve Segal, but agreed - the animators are the heroes here. I was in art school in NYC in the late '70s, and rotoscoping was all the rage - but OMG it was laborious and time consuming and it made you crazy. I thought for years - why is animation done only for little kids when it could be doing ANYTHING? And this video was the beginning of the realization that animation could do so much more than it had been doing for several decades of Hanna-Barbera and such.7 months ago from Steve Segal:The lack of respect for animators is just staggering. Michael Patterson & Candace Reckinger did those thousands of drawings by hand. The video mentions that it was hand drawn and how difficult it was, but I guess it would just take too much effort to mention their names.

Many people don't actually know how hard it is to rotoscope things. I know how to do it WITH modern day computers, but to do this back then, with this much quality?!I, honestly think (though I haven't seen a ton of music video's) that this was the most advanced music video ever created. It truly changed how unique music video's could be, and a quality like this, and a shock of advancement like this could ever be replicated again. It's gonna take a serious genius and unique production to ever top this.

My favorite scene is when he sang "I'll be coming for you anyway", where he let the girl go and he was left to fight the bad guys. That scene just broke my heart. The creators of this video did an amazing job. This is so good, even better than music videos nowadays.

@TheMunkRocker I think they outsourced to England. At the very least, the guy in charge had an English accent and said something about "A hundred thousand pounds."
