No sensible person would use the word "jingoistic" to refer to a scene such as this - the singing of "Land of Hope and Glory" at the Last Night of thje Proms at the Royal Albert Hall - thousands of British people not only in London but across the Uk & right across the world as the LNOTP is broadcast LIVE right across the world each year. They use the word "patriotic". Actually it is the 2012 LNOTP tonight - Sat 08 Sep 12 & it is in full swing RIGHT NOW as I type this & the patriotic music, too.

So I watch this and see all these people with such pride for their country that they sing their hearts out to this, and then I think about Australia where more people are concerned about singing their AFL club song than the national anthem...some pride we have...
