I think this is from a 1974 Mike Douglas Show; that's his original touring band and singers (always liked Robin Grean). This is probably pre-"Mandy"; he added it to make sure people recognized something he's sung. Various versions of the VSM were part of his shows from '74 on; he was never afraid to make fum of himself.

I totally remember him doing jingles pre-Mandy. I seem to recall another TV appearance where he wore shades and had a pair of women flanking him (doing jingles).
