Came on this by accident tonight while looking up "Down in Demerara" and others. I mind we sang "Barbara Allen" in Primary 6 at Macduff High School, Banffshire, Scotland, in 1959. Wikipedia denotes many varieties of verse and such over the years and the above is just one although they're all similar. The song, in any verse, is quite beautiful and the singer does it justice. Beautiful.

I love this so very very much!! I remember my great grandmother singing this to me when I was a baby. I loved to hear her play harp and sing this. I loved it in the 1951 version of "A Christmas Carol". Beautiful!!!
