My granddad was in the new zealand army in new caladonia in 1944 he was an anti aircraft gunner he happly saw no action because the Americans stopped the japanese from advancing to new caladonia but a p 39 airacobra crashed landed at his airfeild and in his spare time he made a knife from the cockpit glass and bolts in the wings and we still have that knife in February that knife survived my uncles house fire and I have the knife now.

I first heard this theme back when the show first first came out in 2001. I didn't remember much of the show then (likely because I wasn't allowed to actually watch it), but I remember how the the music brought me to the verge of tears when it would soar near the end. All these years later I still get that lump in my throat.

My dad, Bill Crisp (HHB, 127th FA, 35th Div) went ashore at Normandy, the Rhineland, the Bulge, Holland, Germany). His brothers: Sicily, N. Africa, Italy, Germany and the Pacific. My wife's uncles: Army P38s in the Pacific, and Marines at Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Saipan. Oh and her dad helped build the atomic bomb. Truly, we cannot thank this generation enough. They saved the world.
