I too saw awaken Solace open for kamelot and I have to say, I was Impressed with what I saw, so much so I am going to pick up the album. The only thing I would say is a second guitarist wouldn't hurt, you know, get some good harmonies going, especially with the last song you played (the name escapes me) the guitar solo towards the end would have been even better if it was played between 2 guitarists. I'm a concerned audio engineer/sound designer and I fear for your "studio engineer" namesake. One, this mixing is superb, the drums are loud and crisp like they should be for this genre and the vocals are actually turned down in the mix (they only seem loud due to the reverb/echo). Two, you're taking a YouTube video (which compresses audio quite badly) as an example of what it sounds like, instead of forming an "educated" opinion from the disc version.
