"Gypsy Soul" was written and produced by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock, but John Wetton was the only member of Asia (past or present) who was involved in the musical performance. It's tough to find any information about who played the instruments. My guess is Moroder himself for the most part. ASIA FOREVER!!!!

This sounds a lot like the Wetton/Manzanera album's better moments. I don't know who was filling in on guitar; clearly it wasn't Steve Howe and it was too polished-sounding to make me think it was Mandy Meyer. Sounds like Steve Lukather, which would fit given that this was released at about the same time as "Then And Now." (They would have been well-served to include it on there and dump the well-intentioned but unbearably insipid "Voice of America.")

I'm beginning to wonder: is this really the normal Asia line up playing, or is it only Wetton, and was the name Asia only mentioned for commercial reasons ???

Instrumentally all very entertaining, nice drumming, interesting bass line and guitar. Strangely enough, a minor role here for Downes and his keyboard... I love the very catchy refrain, how comes this didn't become a solid follow up for Heat of the moment, and didn't get the attention of record buyers as Survivor's Eye of the tiger did ?

Wow, I didn't know that one, even if I have all the regular Asia CD's except for the best ofs and live concerts. Did they ever perfom this song live, and is it available on a CD ?

I'm a fan of "bad" movies and nostalgia, so I thought I might start spinning a classic 80's soundtrack every once in a while, from start to finish. Tonight I'm diving into *Over the Top*.*Over the Top (1987)*Lincoln Hawk (Sylvester Stallone) is a struggling trucker who's trying to rebuild his life. After the death of his wife, he tries to make amends with his son who he left behind years earlier. Upon their first meeting, his son doesn't think too highly of him until he enters the nation-wide arm wrestling competition in Las Vegas.
