I just found out about Arthur, and this, his best song, on Holger Peterson's Sat Night Blues show on CBC. I'd heard Anna by the Beatles, and I guess I'd heard Better Move On, but those didn't make a deep mark. When I heard this song, I was home! Beautiful melody, great arrangement, lyrics that take a different slant on heartbreak, and that voice!

Man I got Goosebumps...What a beautiful Voice! Cannot understand why he wasn't a house hold name? ATLEAST he died and got to keep his soul...didn't have to sell it to make it like so many others!

Dude !! I really feel the same way (and I was born in ´71).. I recall being in my parent´s room (I was 9, and it was nightime, local news on TV) and suddenly my mother got terribly upset and sad, saying "Oh no they just killed John!". It left a great impression in my childhood (when your parents cry, something must be VERY wrong)

arthur alexander didn't play any instrument or know music. he just got a tune in his head and got musicians to play along with it. truly one of the most gifted song writers of all time
