This sounds like a guy who’s trying to get with a girl but she doesn’t want him. That’s why he compares her to Joan of Arc, but she insists she’s not what he holds her up to. And the boys he’s talking about are maybe her friends in his mind; he wants them to go away so he can have her. It explains the French and how she says he isn’t her judge and she’s not Joan of Arc.

I was taking a World History class at a community college when this album first came out. The final essay for the class before final exams was to use a historical figure in a modern context comparison and contrast. I was lucky and heard this song and Joan of Arc was one of the choices. I wrote a three page essay comparing the song and the real life joan of arc and I got a A+ and the professor said it was one of the best essays she read. (I recommended she listen to the song in the essay) I hope she did. I wish I still had that essay

This reminds me of fiver so much, the whole song fits him. Hazel would be the only one following him because fiver had a vision and he only believed him, it meant that some rabbits were probably gonna die and they did. Everybody made fun of him when he knew the warren would be destroyed until it came true.
