Charted at #6 in August 1951. April is more known for her hits with Nino Tempo in the '60's. Written by Cole Porter. With Henri René and his Orchestra. Original Billboard review: "Rene creates a lovely setting for a sexy vocal go by the promising April Stevens on this Cole Porter oldie. Deejays should like and could prove a "sleeper" on the strength of the unusual Stevens' sound and style". Overall Billboard rating: 87 out of 100. Also #24 for the Andrews Sisters during the same month. The other side of this single is "Roller Coaster".

April Stevens voice is lovely, but the arrangement of this classic is painfully, PAINFULLY slow and draggy... and, hey, I LIKE slow songs!

I love this version. She sings it just like one feels when they're in love.

16? No way. Look at the live footage from '80 & '83 - does she look 44 & 47 to you?

My all-time favourite is "Dreamy Melody," the flip side of "Gimme a Little Kiss...". Not just sexy, not just sensuous, but erotic.

Reached #6 in the U.S. over a 15 week chart run beginning the week of June 9, 1951.. April had two more solo hits later in the year, "Gimme A Little Kiss, Will Ya Huh?" and "And To Sleep Again" --- then nothing until 1962 when she teamed with her brother, Nino Tempo.

Les Paul & Mary Ford also broke the strict owners manual instructions (probably from Dr. Harry Olson) for the use of the RCA DX77 ribbon microphone. the Les Paul close mic technique yielded some fantastic results with Mary's unique voice.

Some sources have April stevens birthdate as 1929. However if she was 16 when she recorded this song her birthdate would be 1935.

She was only 15 when she recorded this - she was born in 1936!!

I think her style of singing is why Marilyn Monroe often gets mixed up with her, like teach me tiger, always gets confused for being a MM song.

She was the first to whisper/sing with her mouth touching the mic. Later, this technique became commonplace.
