your music lives in my cd player regularly. i bought screams and whispers soon after it's release and it's been in my top 5 since. i hope beyond hope you guys write another record. the world needs anacrusis, and we love you for so much incredible music

@thebadger1252 It shows how universal music is as a language, as i said earlier. However, you still have to be lucky to address people with an open mind to get theirselves into something new. If you are open your minded, access is easy - just because both songs (Grateful/One) are so very distinct, atmospheric and well made. Another example is my girlfriend. I pass her good music since we are together. Now she tells me she can't stand her soulless, commercial pop crap anymore :)

@neuroncrust1 I enjoyed your story. It reminds me of when I watched the Metallica One video at the home of an elderly family friend back in '89. My mom and and her boyfriend didn't care for it, but the elderly woman (in her mid 60s) came to me and said she quite liked it. I was impressed as how open-minded she was--the same goes for the students and instructor in your story.

Part 1 of 7 A little Anecdote which I hope you will enjoy: I am a teacher for Theory and Practice of Sports at the Institute for Motion Science at University in Hamburg, Germany. The students in my gymnastics class had the task to transform music into motion and improvise a group choreography with only one hour of preparation to a song of my choice they did not know in advance. Allowed was everything with a connection to gymnastics –

Part 2 of 7 the classic gymnastics and its apparatus of course, dance, acrobatics, parkour… as long as it responded to the music. I offered them four songs which I played to them once at the beginning of the lesson. Then it was theirs to pick one and get going. As this is not your average metal crowd (in fact, not one of them into it – poor youth), I tried to have different genres, tempos, atmospheres, so I chose:

Part 3 of 7 1. BJÖRK – Army Of Me 2. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE – Pistol Grip Pump 3. ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT – Bring Us Bullets And my experiment as a fan of great music: 4. ANACRUSIS – Grateful Then came the surprise. No one chose BJÖRK (easiest accessible I thought), no one for RAGE, a few for ROCKET, but almost ¾ of the class picked ANACRUSIS! When they lay on the exercise floor listening, I could see they fingers drum, their feet tapping, their heads nodding.

Part 4 of 7 They told me things like “I had a picture of … before my eyes” or “this called me to an immediate movement” “there is so much to respond to in it” or “this is really emotional”. All groups seriously got into it and delivered very inspiring choreographys with totally different basis, emphasis, atmosphere. I was amazed. One group will take this song for the choreography they have to do in their exam in some weeks.

Part 5 of 7 The grey eminence of the institute, a woman in her late 50s who helped establish this undogmatic way of teaching “gymnastical ways of motion” and whom I deeply respect, attended that experimantal lesson. Talking to her about the music, she told me this: “I do not know all this music by terms like Punk or Heavy Metal or anything, but I think this last song is really great music to move to and get moved by.” I had to burn the CD for her.

Part 6 of 7 This is, I think, a good example for several things. First of all, musical education, widening your horizon in general, is possible as long as you are alive – and there is no excuse for not doing it ;) But much more important, it shows music is the real Esperanto, leading to an understanding greater than for the chord, the lyrics or even the genre, but triggering emotions – which are universal.

Part 7 of 7 By the way: ANACRUSIS is the only band to have two albums amongst my all time top 20 – Manic Impressions and Screams And Whispers. When I have them on my headphones, they take me somewhere else entirely. Great to see them back, the new song is fantastic, please record a new album! I’d be so GRATEFUL! I love the intro to this song! No other Thrash band would ever have the brains or the balls to do something like this. Anacrusis are one of my top 3 Thrash bands of all time. Be sure to come up to Toronto :)
