Just to update you all for certain. The title originally was " Everyone I meet Is From California " which came out late 1971 as part of a Maxi Single with three tracks " A Horse With No Name " was the lead track with the third track "Sandman". The trio had much success in the UK in the early days. That Maxi Single peaked at no 2 in the UK in February 1972 and I think was kept off number one by Niilson's "Without You". As the other comments rightly state California re-visited was so called because it was re-recorded.

This is California Revisited. Written after they came home from London. That is the name and always will be.

The title is California Revisited. Nothing more nothing less.

I think it was listed as "California Revisited" because it was the SECOND time they recorded the song (and I think also because the arrangement was different). The first time was the B-Side of "Horse" under it's original title of "Everyone I Meet Is From California".

The only version I have is the 'Horse with no name' EP single, which also has Sandman - every one of them are gems!!!

The original ( I believe) is "Everyone I Meet Is From California" and (maybe) on the back side of Horse With No Name 45, a more acoustic version than "Revisited" on Homecoming. The "Everyone" version is on the CD, "Encore, More Greatest Hits" as well. I always thought they called it Revisited on Homecoming because it was a different version.

@NMB53 Interesting. Being an old guy all I ever knew it by was California Revisited and I didn't get into their music after Homecoming IMO they went a little to Pop and commercial. To be truthful everyone did call it "Everyone I Meet ...: back in the day so i would assume that it stuck. However the name of the song when it was written was California Revisited.

@kitekid On the Homecoming LP, it is listed as California Revisited. That is the only time I believe that that title was used. On Hourglass (1994) the title used was Everyone I Meet Is from California. The same title is used on The Complete Greatest Hits, as well as in their setlists.

If you are talking about the guyon the left singing lead - that's Dewey Bunnell - one of the originals, writer of Horse with No Name and many others. This song, however was written and originally sung by Dan Peek, Dan left the band back in about 1977-78...something like that, if I remember my history. The guy on the right is the other original - Gerry Beckley.
