With the advent of electrical recording in 1925, Victor had Galli-Curci re-record several of her more popular records using the new process. With a few exceptions, all of her earlier acoustic recordings are superior to the later remakes. This recording of Benedict's "La Capinera", recorded on September 19, 1927, while not quite as brilliant as the popular 1918 recording, is still a very charming performance.

I agree this electrical version of the song is charmingly sung. Despite my admiration, however, it is a far cry from the brilliance as well as charm displayed in the earlier, acoustic recording. Hempel made a very fine recording of the song as well, but not comparable to Galli-Curci's earlier rendition.Похожие клипы
