I cannot explain how excited I was when I found the BITE album record shopping the other day. This version of the song threw me off guard because I had forgotten that the CD didn't include the extended mix as the 3rd track. Weird. That remaster messed everything up. The vinyl's versions are much better.

I loved this song so much that I sat for 3-4 days learning the base line. Clare was such a fantastic singer and was great when I saw them live.

On my copy of the album sleeve the trumpeter is not credited. Andy Hamilton gets a general mention as the saxophonist, though for which tracks I don't know. The prime candidate for trumpeter on this track must be Stephen Lironi who could play several instruments.

I was 17 when this came out,I was into disco,soul,funk but had a secret side of my tastes! Some songs just grab you when you hear them,like this!I think it was like the 2nd to last or the last off the album.I bought the 45,The best thing about youtube and todays technology,you can find these gems,I remember another song out the same time,african and white,china crisis.But this,lovely better than happy birthday,god that did my head in!

Bought the album when it came out in '83. One of those 'stand-out' tracks that has always reminded me of that summer (The Style Council's Long Hot Summer being the other one of course..). Just fantastic Clare.

1983!! Memories of graduating and having to return to Essex (where I didn't want to go) because I had no job at the time. This song was a bright spot on a dismal background at the time and still feels good today.
