I read an article a couple of days ago about Aretha that despite of her being dubbed as the queen of soul, she had been very insecure and hate other contemporary singers to the point of ignoring their existence. I was very young when I first watched the show on TV and I felt lucky having to experience seeing beautiful divas performing together but too young to know that there is an actual shading on this show.. nevertheless, these divas are so great and talented and made music for us to listen to but whatever amount of greatness a person have it will always toil down to their attitude.. respect for the humility of Carole king, the bravery of Celine Dion and the fair play of Shania, Gloria and Mariah. They are all great!..

Guys Aretha is a Soul Singer. Soul singers give their everything when they feel it... They don't try to "outshine" anyone.. thats how that kind of singers doing.. They feel it..they give everything out..they are giving their soul! if you watch other soul singers together you would understand. why those other singers here did not wanted to keep up,was due to respect for her,letting her do her thing. Besides Aretha was the honored Star of the Night. like a few years later the old honored Star was Diana Rose and other time Chaka Khan!
