Alice 'N Chains performing live at Kane Hall, University of Washington - Seattle, WA. / May 1986

Members: Layne Staley, Nick Pollock, Johnny Bacolas, James Bergstrom

This video, and others like it that I may post, are presented as a historical reference for the artists in the videos. We all start doing what we love somewhere, sometime. We were teenagers when this video was shot, with a big dream. The dreams of making killer music and playing on big stages. The dreams really never die when you love what you're doing. I'm living proof. Nick is also still making music constantly, and performing, just recently with My Sister's Machine in Seattle, and packing the clubs still. (https://www.facebook.com/mysistersmachine) This represents our roots. I'm not posting this because it is "killer music," I mean, this was really our 1st band, we were kids, our first attempt at writing, and recording, and performing. We were about 16-17 years old here. And it was the mid-80's so we looked ridiculous :-D We had a great time! We met a ton of people, and cultivated our craft from these early jam rooms and gigs. Layne always had the charisma and the voice, as you can see. This is how we all got started, that's all. Nothing more. Dream big, and never stop! I hope you all enjoy the vids. - Johnny Bacolas

On an unverified side-note: The custom suit Layne is wearing is all silk, and supposedly made for "Prince." It was given to him as a gift from a gal who made the claim. We always believed this story to be true, but it's unverified. It would be cool to verify this some day.

I can't wait for 30 + years from now when stupid kids make dumb remarks about your favorite bands' early start up. They will all be on youtube and facebook, not the stuff of legends, either. Sit back and have a bunch of idiots call them "lame" when you were there. Historical context. It's a thing.

Hey, thanks Yani! Is this the same show where Layne was telling some kid whose face looks like a moon to invest on Stridex? Haha wish you could upload the entire show. I can hear Sickman in the drumbeat. Must have been so awesome playing in late 80s.

Johnny Bacolas is a great producer, a top class musician and a unique human being..most of you havent read the notes under the video, strong words from a man always honouring the times he shared with his friends...always puting himself in a place where ethos is the basic ingredient..always been there for his friends..till the end.
