"Christmas in Dixie" is one of the most beloved songs by the group Alabama." To this day a lot of people don't know any more about Alabama than "Angels among Us" and " Christmas in Dixie." Alabama lead singer Randy Owen has said.Released as a single in 1982, the song was included on the 1985 album "Alabama Christmas" and has been a holiday mainstay ever since.The song refers to several southern locales but it's final lines mention the birthplace of founding member of the band,Randy Owen,Jeff Cook and Teddy Gentry: " And from Fort Payne, Alabama God bless ya'll, We love ya..."

This song bears a striking similarity to "on the inside" which was a worldwide hit ( except in the US) for Australian songwriter ALLAN CASWELL ...Coincidentally it was released not long after Allans song,,, though the words are different, melody and chords are almost exactly the same...one could conclude it may have been plagiarised
