Everything about this album is perfect, I don't even want to call him my favourite rapper when he's blatantly sooo much more

I love Akala. You are so musically diverse! Maybe that's a reflection of your own life and your diversity. You mix hip hop with funk, jazz, electronic music, you can do grime, everything! Love dis mix of hip hop and funk.

I'm not an old soul, don't listen to jazz or blues or older music often (I can appreciate it, but I just don't listen to much), but I can still kinda relate to this song. I can still appreciate the production and the message. Just nice vibes.

You need to listen to more Ludacris if you think he is just a commercialised rapper. Check out 'Release Therapy' and 'Theater of the mind.'

I can look at it for hours and still find new meanings and context within the cover...Amazing!

Akala last night at the Clore ballroom in the Royal festival Hall, linked the worlds of hiphop, Africa, black American music, patois, Jamaica and what's happening in London, too. This was a very well researched talk which dispelled myths about Africa, hiphop, race, black music in general and language too. In my opinion it was the kind of information that should be disseminated in schools and universities across the world as there is far too much information being left out of our western education programmes, and quite a lot of misinformation being imparted, as gospel, to young minds. This talk was apparently given once last year which suggests it might be an ongoing thing so if you are in London next time, there is only one place to be. The 'talk' is given with a full band on stage who provide not only the background jazz feel for the talking parts but also full beautiful sound for the songs, like this one. Together with the graphics to amplify the points being made about where hiphop comes from it is a wholly sensual experience.Jeff Chang did a comprehensive study of hiphop, putting it into a sociological and political context and Akala put it firmly into a historic, world context, tracing it back to the earliest African civilisations and along the way dispensing some information that would shock a lot of people. For example, which African civilisation had a sophisticated sewage system when here in Britain we were still chucking the contents of the chamber pot over the balcony, to the street below?

Watched Akala perfom this live today. The best way to some it up would be to use a line in this song ' If you saw this live its better then the record'

This song reminds me of my up bringing listening to nwa wuntang clan etc, then hearing ludacris and mainstream artists like them to my present day I look bk and wonder why I liked mainstream rap at all lol, I feel more apart of the early 80's heavy metal scene than anything funny coz I was born 10 yrs after when music became more commercialised.
