@MandyJMaddison On second thoughts, since the single wasn't released until nearly three years after the film, it is possible that the reason Aled recorded it was that Peter Auty's voice had broken.

@viago2 , I have no doubt that it was shit, for poor Peter Auty, who sang it so beautifully in the film. But Aled was already well known, not to the whole wider public, but to all those who bought church music. He had already recorded three albums by the time he recorded "Walking in the Air". Can I suggest that you simple search "Walking in the Air, Peter Auty" and you will quickly find a deteriorated clip from the film, with Auty's original track. Wikipedia has a page on "Walking in the Air".

@viago2 FYI, although Aled did record "Walking in the Air", the child whose voice is used in the movie that is played every year at Christmas is not Aled. It is Peter Auty, a chorister from St Paul's Cathedral. Peter Auty's voice is exquisite and very well suited to the piece. But very very few boys have ever achieved the extraordinary technical competence and musicality of Aled that is so well demonstrated her. Possibly only Richard Bonsall from New Zealand who is also an absolute delight.

@viago2 While I don't understand the need for such foul language to a complete stranger, I hope you can see that not everyone has the opportunity to hear Aled. In the u.s. his music is not promoted. And no, I have never seen the snowman- I am 20 years old and don't watch immature movies made for 4 years olds such as yourself.

@SuperLillyjo Amen! I just disovered Aled two years ago, and have since gotten my hands on all his music I can find. Truly a wonderful voice.

I've followed this man from childhood to manhood and still his voice moves me to tears.

What a wonderful piece of music. I often listen to it at the end of the day and carry this lovely melody all the way into my dreams. Thank you for this utterly beautiful version.

I believe this was recorded when he was 14. Such control. He will always be one of the greats.
