Obviously it's all about lyrics these days and nothing about production. Dj premier would notGo near modern day so called new age hip hop artist for obvious reasons..............

Sorenk1987 has got it down. New age hip hop lovers ain't lovers of hip hop. They are lovers of hip hop pop.....word is bomb from Australia.....word

Yo I hate that shit too, Canibus is lke that. slapping abunch of multible syllble rhymes that really doesn't mean anything. Ghostface comes to mind, but he is a bit more coherent. Then they say Oh this real hip hop, Please...but the beat is nice.

Damn, see how you take apart the lyrics and break them down. Thats a New School thing, check out the recent battle rap scene, they do the same thing. The old school doesn't do that, they just like the flow of the syllables. So they could care less if it makes sense or not.

"Emperors New Clothes*" Buts thats a good analogy. A lot of these stuck in te 90s guys have the"You just don't understand real hip hop" mentality. Many of those old underground rappers have 'non-sequitur' style, flow was more important than clever concepts. The new generation wants a more metaphorical approach, more cleverness, and creativity with the MEANING of the words, not just the syllables and random rambling. so songs like this will not empress them.

Im just saying the lyrics don't make sense, i didn't say it was bad or good I'm not giving a personal opinion of his skill Im saying that based on the the grammatical structure of these lyrics, it is incoherent. Im not expecting an essay but at least some consistent theme. If thats his style then thanks for enlightening me, now i know what to expect from this guy. And there are academic analysis of Poe, this song doesn't even have an entry on rapgenius. com not one explanation for one bar.

It's a play of words. I can show you tons of Edgar Allan Poe poems that you couldn't interpret no matter how hard you tried. Btw... Word to Mother...is a black slang. When we say word to mother. We mean its so true and justified we put our word on our ancestors back in the motherland. Word to Moms is just a shorter way of saying it. No different from saying something is dope or def - Def Leppard. There's 50 thumbs up on this vid, no thumbs down. Only people who know skill know Afu.

Let's take we take an average joe, young black kid to a SLIPKNOT concert. He'll be APPALLED and think "well damn... any retard with a guitar can do that shit". Because he doesn't grasp the concept of Rock. You don't grasp the FLOW, SKILL, or DELIVERY. Afu is FREESTYLING. A (freestyle) is a written rhyme, free of style and form. You have Rappers, and MC's. Rappers write nursery rhymes about nonsense. MC's like Afu can flow to ANY BEAT with precision like an avante garde jazz musician.

I wasn't saying it HAS to make sense, I was just pointing out how incomprehensible the lyrics are. if that's his style than so be it. I keep getting these "Emperors new close" responses. Superbly, my words be like third degree Word to me, thoughts higher than planes be It's funny to me, how my stun shines the jewelry My symmetry, follow me, wherever shadows be- Afu Ra. I mean c'mon.

Nah Kief he doesn't understand that hip hop is a cultural expression. It's an art, not just nursery rhymes about the hood and strugglin. If you told him that Eminem is a prime candidate and made his name spitting lyrics like this. It still wouldn't register to him. This is real hip hop. To him he's looking for basic abc...123 lyrics so just let him stick with Drake...lmmfao!

This a what you call a BATTLE RAP. It's a display of SKILL. All the elements of true hip hop are present in the song. The DJ is BUSY... unlike other MC's who have Dj's that simply place the needle on the record. Those lyrics you wrote are a ( play of words ). It doesn't have to make sense to you. If you think its simple try a hand at it. It's far more complex and serious than you think. Afu is CALLING OUT the basic Mc's who use GIMMICKS like FAKE THUGGING as their CRUTCH.

Every bar is a non-sequitur from the last bar. "You titillate, chop you up for my shark bait" what symbolism is that? what the heck is he talking about? this is not a matter of opinion, i really would like an explanation. RapGenius. com doesn't have one explanation for this entire song. go on there and start explaining. "Terroristic type tactic, get your ass kicked Never rested, jah blessed it, never test it" -WTF hes good at non-sequiturs ill give him that.

Afu-Ra uses wordplay and heavy symbolism to portray his message or underlying theme, I would hardly call him incoherent. Drake simply reads what someone else wrote for him to make a few more dollars; there is no knowledge or real substance to Drake's bars. I suppose each to his own opinion though!
