Sorry to hear that my friend. I think it would be best if you don't listen to any more slam from now on ha ha. Its rather hard to digest especially if you haven't listened to more strait forward styles of death metal over a long period of time and even then if you don't have the ear for it it will never sound good to you. Personally, I was never a fan of these types of vocals (not being too much into the brutal stuff until recently) but damn this band made me like them, probably because of those amazing riffs as well. Got to get me a shirt with that artwork now.
