I think that the reason the lyrics to The Name Of The Game are interesting is due to their resemblance word for word to everyday dialogue. These lyric words do not come from a romantic lover crooning below a balcony under the moonlight. They represent, instead, the simple, heartfelt thoughts of someone desperate for love and affection who dreams of an opportunity to express her feelings to the person she (or he) fancies ('Now I am here, talking to you, no wonder I get excited': even this lyric could be more than just thoughts: they could be her expressed words). Most of us have to live with such few opportunities in our lifetime that we can identify with the sentiments expressed in this lovely song. This song reached no. 1 in Britain in about November, 1977. I think this song helped a lot of people then.
