The complete and original line up of Across Five Aprils reunited to write and record a few songs in conjunction with a series of reunion shows in late 2010. In 2011, this collection of songs was released through Indianola Records as the EP Going Down With The Ship, this song is from that collection. The band's name was selected from the title of the first full length album they released as Across Five Aprils in 2003 on Indianola Records. Each member enjoyed writing and playing together again with friends so they collectively decided to continue writing new music. A Tragedy Progress recently tracked a full length which is tentatively set to be released in the summer of 2012.
Lyrics:
I remember the Florida coast, the
way it looked right out my window
Leaving everything we knew behind
Thinking back on i tnow, it seems so long ago
Just a bunch of kids trying to make it or die
All the same faces in different places
We're singing songs we grew up on
We'll tell these stories forever
We'll always sing these songs
And I know that this might be the end
Let's never say never, we might meet again
And I remember coming home, no place to be,
nowhere to go
Couldn't wait to get back there on the road
I wish we could have made time to see it for what it was
We should have opened our eyes
Some of the best times we'll ever know
There's things you need to see
Things you need to know
Dive into the sea, you got to let it go
We might worlds apart
From where we were back then
Let's go back to the start, let's do it all again
How did we get here?
We're so far from home
