The bass provides the wall of sound feeling that streetlight has. Without it their songs would feel empty. Not only that, but along with the drums, the bass is responsible for setting the rhythm for the entire band, so it's an important job. Without a bassist they'd be slightly less clean-sounding, and that makes a huge difference in a band like streetlight that plays high caliber music. That said, if you wanna check out how awesome Pete (the bass player) is, look up ungrateful by streetlight, even without a trained ear you can clearly hear the high speed bass solo.

Um how are you people NOT hearing the epic bass!? This breaks my heart and you must have shit speakers or no ear for tones. Probably can't even pick out the different brass.... sad sad day. Great great band

Erm I don't get how people don't appreciate the bass. "The bass doesn't matter in the slightest"?? The verses are practically bass solos with the drummer tapping some stuff and every other instrument playing some vamped upbeats. A moment of silence is bassically a bass solo (a moment of silence for that pun :D)

im sorry treble without bass sounds like absolute shit. they balance each other out. like yin and yang, good and evil. You cant know happiness without pain. either way treble without the balance of bass sounds annoying as fuck. take it from someone who played a bass instrument in many different genres for about 5 years.
