Laibach plays with audience. And as long as people won't realize, they'll be able to perform in this bigger than life attitude. They explained it : Laibach is a totalitarian group and when you go to one of their show (and I've been), you could kill your neighbor if they ask itn because the purpose of their work is to recreate totalitarism in order for people to understand what are today totalitarism. For them, it's the capital (cf. Le Privilège des Morts, + various interviews)

I think Laibach is more totalitarian than totalitarian.

@tuomastahti I think it is quite the Orwellian nationalism that is ridiculed by Laibach. I believe that any man should live without anyone ruling over them, be it boss or state, unless someone can give a valid justification for it. Noone needs prove why it is illegitimate. The burden of prove is on those who might suggest power over someone else is legitimate, otherwise it is legitimate to dismantle that power. One should always be suspicious about power.

@RSFO Writers have given different descriptions for "nationalism" and "patriotism". The way I use these two words is very different from Orwell’s. When I talk about nationalism, I mean the idea that every nation should have the right to live peacefully in its own area without being ruled by any other nation or any supranational dominator. The purpose of the state as an organized political community is nothing more than being a guardian for the citizens and a defender of justice.

@tuomastahti You should read George Orwell's "Notes on Nationalism". To quote from the essay: "The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them." Nationalism has nothing to do with love for your country or culture. Nationalism is when it becomes vulgar. That's why it is national+ism. Your polite way to express your supposed dissidence seems quite unnationalistic to me. But maybe I am wrong.

Politically I don't have much in common with Laibach, but I enjoy the group's creativity, intelligence and style. I'm a nationalist and I know Laibach is against nationalism, but I love their music.
