Born and raised in Scranton. -Harry Chapin never got permission from my friend's family to write a song about.My friend that I grew up with, is the granddaughter of banana truck guy. Well of course she spoke up and said, "You know, that was my grandfather. He never got to watch his children grow up or meet his grandchildren this song opened some very painful wounds for them. My mom was a little kid, and said it was obsolutely terrible. They couldn't get it cleaned up for a few days, and there were search parties for body parts and everything." She still remembers the smell.

It was interesting, and a bit frightening, to actually see over the shoulder of a driver who took the course of the hapless driver of the song. As we visually took the ride with him, it made everything all the more devastating when we saw the crash you posted. You see, I was there, and saw the whole thing... We were on our way to Oakland CA.The Greyhound was behind us. It was a nice sunny day... WHEN the bananas fell off the front of the trailer and slipped under the rear wheels, causing a jacknife. The truck spun 360 degrees at 70 miles multiple times- Taking out everything in its path. Yep! Thoses were the days folks...
