It Isn't Fair (Himber-Warshauer-Sprigato) by Sammy Kaye & his Orchestra, vocal by Don Cornell (CD audio source)

In 1950, after many years of swinging and swaying, Don Cornell went solo, departing the Sammy Kaye band...with a bang! This final Kaye-Cornell collaboration was a million-selling hit, spent nearly six months on the record charts, and remained (along with "I'm Yours") one of Cornell's signature tunes throughout his long career.

New to much of 1950's younger generation, "It Isn't Fair" had been a popular hit back in 1933, serving also as theme for the band of Richard Himber, co-writer of the song.

"It Isn't Fair" is a song I grew up listening to because... well, because that's what Dad played on the record player back in the 50's. Be it from fabulous singers like Jerry Vale or Billy Eckstine, this song is a classic. Back in the early 60's The Duprees did it too. ( And if The Duprees play near you, do yourself a favour & catch them becuz lead singer Tommy Petillo does a wonderfully romantic rendition. GREAT song for SLOW dancing! ) However, the one I keep coming back to is this Swing and sway with Sammy Kaye cut with the signature intro "To sing this beautiful song... here is Don Cornell" LOVE IT! ^.^

I remember that Don Cornell was one of many really fine male vocal artists on radio in the early 1950's. Each had their very own distinctive style and were proficient in the art of selling themselves. A wonderful and interesting era musically pre rock & roll.
