Goodnight Irene (Ledbetter-Lomax) by Gordon Jenkins & his Orchestra and The Weavers (CD audio source)
The ancient folk tune was adapted by, and is commonly associated with, blues artist Huddie 'Lead Belly' Ledbetter. Decca Records music director Gordon Jenkins created this uptown arrangement for the folk-singing Weavers and came away with the number-one record hit of 1950. The popular flipside "Tzena, Tzena, Tzena" is also posted, as is Frank Sinatra's moderately successful cover of "Irene."
