Reaching #2 on the weekly BB singles sales charts, Monroe scored a major hit with this lovely Frank Loesser tune, introduced by Betty Hutton in "The Perils Of Pauline."

CD audio, originally issued on 78rpm: RCA Victor 20-2294 - I Wish I Didn't Love You So (Loesser) by Vaughn Monroe & his Orchestra, vocal by Vaughn Monroe and The Moon Maids, recorded April 2, 1947

From all accounts, Mr. Monroe may have "been a real dick to work with" but was at his core are really nice person.

And he was a real dick to work with.. I knew, as a sound artist, where the mikes had to be. And he just HAD to have them elsewhere. I came close to telling him where to put them, until RCA told me to back off. But, he had that voice. And let me tell you, it was as wonderful in person as it presents itself in these old recordings........he really DID have that voice, it was not faked.

These were prior to any thing that Ampex did. I worked with Paul on the earliest head decks that could do 8 tracks. Never mind.........mutters away in the distance,.,............

Uhh.......where did this master come from?Surely not from the shellac, as I had it.You have access to the master tapes?I am 56 yo now, kid, but I had access to them.....I was just a kid then. A recording studio bump.
