Judy Collins wasn't stealing songs. Other artists, such as Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, were honored to have her record their songs.

Judy is not scary - she's not a stick-like anemic with a mouthful of glinting fangs and a voice that cracks mirrors - no Judy is a proper woman whose "Albatross" is one of the finest songs of the wonderful 60's - I was upset by that silly dude and his crazy and contemptuous slanders.

actually i was hoping to allow you the chance to address what got you upset. p.s. i dont know if you've ever noticed Judy is kinda scary looking.

"Nice work" , eh ? Why , thanks for your support MFYF . Lovely to encounter a genuine aficionado on You Tube.

i notice rather than address the "slur" you spoke of all you did was ignore it and create a few ridiculous slurs of your own. nice work.

I adore Judy Collins and resent this mindless slur - Judy has a vocal richness that shrill Mitchell can only aspire too - furthermore Mitchell is a silly looking girl with an extraordinary collection of teeth - so you're wrong !

So much time, only a moment ago that I became entangled within the imagery of this album. Thanks

Absolutely wonderful. I've been listening to this (and nearly all her music, from 'Song To A Seagull' onwards) for quarter of a century, the best part of my adult life, and it still thrills and bewitches me. I'm reviewing her records at my blog 'sounds from the funky goat'. If you love Joni, have a read.

@utubehall Well said. I hate it when people pit talented artists against each other. As it happens, the young Joni Mitchell considered Judy Collins a hero, and Judy, for her part, was an early champion of Joni's music. At the 1967 Newport Folk Festival, Judy stood up to Joan Baez and Mimi Farina's mother when Momma Baez, fearing Joni would upstage her babies, tried to shut Joni out. Judy had the guts to threaten that she AND Leonard Cohen would walk out if Joni was not allowed to perform.

This is one of the very first Joni Mitchell songs I ever heard, very late '66 or early '67. I was sure it was really about me. As if. I bought the first copy of song to a seagull sold in Berkeley, having gotten to the record store on Telegraph just as they opened the box. A goddess, then and now.

Joni and Judy are both goddesses. Joni's body of work is nearly unrivaled. She is my favorite. Judy did however write "since you asked" , did the Cohen songs , is beautiful(suite/sweet Judy blue eyes!!!) and way cool too.

@Joy14ever Wash your mouth out, better than the songwriter's performance?-ludicrous, Judy Collins wishes she had half of Joni's talent and authenticity-Collins tends to appeal to mainstream audiences, and she is O.K, no where near Ms Mitchell's league.
